TransNamib Orders Six GE Diesel Locomotives

TransNamib has signed a $22.7 million contract with GE Transportation for six C23EMP diesel locomotives. The new 1,067mm gauge diesel locomotives are expected to be delivered to Walvis Bay within the next 18 to 20 months. The new locomotives are an improved version of the existing GE locos that have been in the service of TransNamib for the past 50 years. These locos will be deployed on trains, to transport sulphuric acid from Tsumeb to Arandis, which will be operated TransNamib under a ten-year contract awarded earlier this year by Dundee Precious Metal Tsumeb.
GE Transportation Announces Executive Changes, Effective October 1, 2015

GE announced a series of key leadership changes. Jamie Miller will succeed Russell Stokes as the president and CEO of Transportation. Miller, who joined GE in 2008. In her most recent role as senior vice president and CIO. Jim Fowler, a 15 years IT leader at GE, will succeed Miller as CIO. All of these changes are effective October 1, 2015.
GE Transportation Workers in Erie Approve Four Years Contract

About 3,200 GE Transportation workers in Erie have a new four-year contract containing $1.40 in hourly raises and $10,000 in lump-sum bonuses. The contract was agreed to on June 21. Workers will get a $2,000 ratification bonus and four more lump-sum payments over the course of the contract. It also increases health care premiums by more than $2,800 for workers making less than $75,000 annually and more than $3,500 for those making more than $75,000 over the life of the pact.
