GE Transportation Announces the Release of its RailConnect 360 Software
Nov 12 14
GE Transportation announced the release of its RailConnect 360 software enhancement for rail shippers, ShipperConnect Demurrage Management, a cloud-based software solution that improves railcar demurrage billing accuracy. ShipperConnect Demurrage Management simplifies the demurrage billing process, allowing shippers to internally manage their demurrage, storage and detention records. It does this by capturing railcar events and dynamically calculating tariff rules, making immediate adjustments to demurrage payments. Demurrage Management improves productivity by eliminating manual data collection and processing. It also reduces demurrage liability by removing tariff interruption and missed exceptions. ShipperConnect Demurrage Management is part of a connected suite of software solutions called RailConnect 360. RailConnect 360 provides railroads and rail shippers with data-driven insights to improve the reliability and availability of their assets and to optimize their operations and reduce life cycle costs. It is a customizable and connected enterprise solution that impacts the entire rail supply chain.

The technology acquisition expands and strengthens software capabilities in the ShipperConnect Demurrage Management system. The comprehensive offering will manage and calculate railcar demurrage, detention, and storage charges, administer complex demurrage rules and contracts, automate demurrage calculation methods, administer complex rating structures, and manage unlimited exception criteria.
Singapore's Land Transport Authority Chooses GE Transportation to Supply the Signaling of New Thomson and Eastern Region Lines
May 5 14
GE Transportation has been selected by Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) to supply fully automated driverless train control and signaling solutions for the Thomson (TSL) and Eastern Region (ERL) Lines based on its Tempo(TM) portfolio. GE will provide the Tempo(TM) Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) and Computer-Based Interlocking (CBI) systems as part of a contract which includes the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the signaling system and platform screen doors for both TSL and ERL lines, a deal valued at SGD 159 million. The project will be rolled out in three phases starting in 2019. The Tempo CBTC Solution allows urban transit operators to address their operational and service challenges and needs, ranging from increase in line ridership capacity, revenue service availability and energy consumption to reducing life-cycle costs. This next-generation solution is an integrated and modular signaling and control system, designed to simplify Mass Transit service operations and increase its efficiency. It supports all possible grades of automation to dynamically adjust capacity to required traffic levels while still maintaining safety levels. LTA currently has 148 stations across Singapore. Thomson Line is a 30km underground train line that is expected to be fully completed in 2021. As the sixth Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line, it will have 22 stations and 6 interchange stations which will link with the East-West Line, North-South Line, Circle Line and the Downtown Line. The Eastern Region Line will run together with the Thomson Line as one line. Both lines are key deliverables in LTA's Land Transport Master Plan, which ultimately aims by 2030 to provide 8 in 10 households in Singapore access to a train station within a 10-minute walk and to enable 85% of all public transport journeys (less than 20km) to be completed within 60 minutes.
