The organization offers advisory services to members on auditing, assurance, quality control, education, ethics, and information technology. It promotes and develops the profession of accountancy. IFAC organizes conferences and seminars and provides members with information on technology and industry updates, market research, and reports. Its members include more than 150 organizations. The organization was founded in 1977 and is based in New York City.

The International Federation of Accountants Elects New Board Members

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) announced its new Board members, decided at its annual Council Meeting. Four members were elected to IFAC's Board: Bill Balhoff (United States), Alan Johnson (United Kingdom), Terence Nomembe (South Africa), and Dr. Zhiguo Yang (China).

International Federation of Accountants Announces Executive Changes

The International Federation of Accountants announced the election of its President, Olivia Kirtley of the United States, for a two-year term ending in November 2016. The IFAC Council also announced the election of Rachel Grimes of Australia as Deputy President, a position previously held by Ms. Kirtley. Ms. Kirtley is a non-executive director of US Bancorp, Papa John's International, and ResCare Inc. Ms. Grimes is CFO Technology at Westpac, a multinational financial services firm; she previously served as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. As Deputy President, she will chair the Planning and Finance Committee; previously she was a member of this committee, as well as the former Governance and Audit Committee.
