Asurion Cuts Nearly 200 Jobs

Asurion announced that it is eliminating 178 technology team positions. The majority of those cuts will occur in Middle Tennessee, where the company employs more than 3,000 people between five locations in Davidson and Rutherford counties. According to the release, the eliminated positions all support technology platforms that are being retired, and the organization as a whole is still committed to local growth. The job actions will be effective February 8, the release says, and all impacted employees will receive a severance package, placement assistance and the option to apply for other open the company positions.

Asurion Develops New Phone Protection Plans for WIND Mobile

Asurionannounced the company has partnered with a Canada's mobile operator, WIND Mobile, to deliver the WIND Phone Protection Plan. The new service will be available to WIND customers starting October 7 and will protect devices from loss, theft, physical and liquid damage and out-of-warranty malfunction. WIND Phone Protection Plan is available within 15 days of a new activation or upgrade. The service covers all wireless devices and standard accessories, including batteries, chargers, SIM cards and memory cards. The program reconnects WIND customers quickly with the same or comparable device model. Other features of the new protection service include: -- Next Business day delivery, in most cases, for service requests approved by 5PM ET; -- Enrolled customers will pay $7- $10 per month, plus a service replacement fee in the event they need to file a service replacement request; -- The ability to cancel WIND Phone Protection Plan coverage at any time with no cancellation fee.

Asurion, LLC Plans to Lay Off 98 Employees at its Kansas City Office

Asurion, LLC is planning to lay off 98 employees at its Kansas City office at 8880 Ward Parkway. The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice on June 6. The layoffs are scheduled for the beginning of August.
