Smiths Interconnect, Inc. Key Developments

Smiths Interconnect Announces Revenue Results for the Third Quarter Ended on May 2, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

Smiths Interconnect announced revenue results for the third quarter ended on May 2, 2015. Underlying revenue fell in the quarter, following the year to date trend, due to ongoing delays in customer spending in wireless telecoms, programme slowdowns and further softness in several markets served by Connectors and Microwave, such as defence and medical.  The decline was slightly offset by growth in data centres.  The company expects some improvement in trading in the fourth quarter compared with the first nine months, 2014 full year revenue and headline operating profit will remain below prior year levels.

Smiths Interconnect Announces Unaudited Earnings Results for the Six Months Ended January 31, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Second Half of Fiscal 2016

Smiths Interconnect announced unaudited earnings results for the six months ended January 31, 2015. For the period, the company reported revenue of £198 million, headline operating profit of £18 million, operating profit of £7 million against revenue of £210 million, headline operating profit of £27 million, operating profit of £16 million for the same period a year ago. Return on capital employed was 12.0% against 12.2% a year ago. Smiths Interconnect's reported and underlying revenue declined 6% mainly due to delays in customer spending and programme slowdowns in many of end markets. This was only slightly offset by growth in data centres. Headline operating profit fell 33%, the main contributors were adverse mix, reflecting revenue declines in higher margin sectors, and negative operational gearing from lower volumes. The company expects that seasonality will bias performance towards the second half although trading in the second half will remain below prior year levels.

Smiths Interconnect, Inc. Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended November 1, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the First Half and Second Half of Fiscal Year 2015

Smiths Interconnect, Inc. reported earnings results for the first quarter ended November 1, 2014. For the quarter, the company saw declines in revenue and headline operating profit at constant currencies as the year started more slowly than expected. This reflects some spending delays by wireless telecoms customers, the timing of certain orders for test equipment with revenue benefiting the prior year and continued softness in some end markets, particularly defence.  First half revenues and profitability are budgeted to be below last year. However, the second half should see some recovery against the first half reflecting normal seasonality in certain markets and the timing of benefits from growth investments.
