Group Health Signs Letter of Intent for Swedish Health Services

Group Health announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent for Swedish Health Services to provide its Seattle-based hospital services starting in February 2016. This will include transitioning the company’s award-winning maternity services from its Capitol Hill location, to Swedish. The company physicians and midwives will continue to provide their unique approach to maternity care for their members. These services will transition in spring of 2015. Group Health consistently evaluates both internal and external services. Consequently, it conducted a rigorous 10-month evaluation of Seattle-area inpatient (or hospital-based) services. This included multiple rounds of proposal reviews and extensive physician engagement with the Seattle hospitals that are among the best in the country.

Group Health Cooperative and Bartell Drugs announce an innovative collaboration, bringing retail clinics to Seattle and Bellevue. These retail clinics will be staffed by health professionals from Group Health and provide busy individuals and families with an affordable, convenient place to turn for on-demand care of common minor illnesses and procedures. Known as CareClinic: Group Health at Bartell Drugs(TM) (CareClinic), three clinics will open between mid-January and early March 2014 as part of a new offering serving Group Health members and the general public alike. They will be staffed by Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners from Group Health and will be available to adults and children over two years of age. The initial sites are: Ballard -- 1500 NW Market St, Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98107-5211, Crossroads -- 653 156th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98007 and University Village -- 2700 NE University Village St., Seattle, WA 98105. The CareClinics will offer convenient, on-demand care for common minor illnesses and procedures, such as cold and flu, sinus infections, allergies, minor injuries (burns, rashes, and cuts), pinkeye, sore throat, headaches, head lice, ringworms, warts, sprains and strains, bronchitis, ear infections, urinary tract infections, diarrhea and intestinal infections. Customers will experience the convenience of receiving both in-store services as well as easy access to Bartell Drugs' pharmacy and basic medical supplies without making an additional trip. Based on the success of the initial CareClinics, Group Health and Bartell Drugs will assess whether to expand the collaboration to additional stores over time.
