Appistry Inc. announced the availability of GenomePilot on Microsoft’s Azure Marketplace. Through a new collaboration, Appistry will actively participate with Microsoft and other partners in the development of a complete set of cloud-based services for research and clinical genomics. Appistry will be working closely with Microsoft to develop, market, and sell genomics services on Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform and integrated services that enable organizations to build and manage enterprise, production-grade infrastructures and applications easily, quickly, and cost-effectively. For an initial offering, Appistry is delivering its GenomePilot data analysis application on Azure to help research and clinical laboratories process and analyze the high volumes of genomics data produced by next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. Initially released by Appistry in April 2015, GenomePilot provides a turnkey solution for NGS analysis by integrating tools, data, and processes into a single solution to help labs streamline their NGS analyses and increase productivity. For clinical labs operating under HIPAA or CLIA regulation, GenomePilot tracks all information associated with analysis runs for compliance auditing. Deployed on Azure, GenomePilot enables organizations to take advantage of these capabilities on a flexible, security-enhanced cloud infrastructure.

Appistry Inc. announced that Cornelius (Neal) Boerkoel has joined Appistry's management team as the company's first chief medical officer. A former laboratory director at the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program and co-founder of the Rare Disease Foundation, Boerkoel brings more than 30 years of research and clinical expertise to Appistry, where he will actively participate in developing the company's long-term corporate and product strategy while building relationships with scientific partners and customers. Neal will retain his appointments at the Children's and Women's Medical Centre of British Columbia and the University of British Columbia, where he is a clinical associate professor and clinical investigator in the Provincial Medical Genetics Program and Child and Family Research Institute.
