Vodafone Is In Early Talks With Altice To Acquire Cabovisão

Vodafone Group Public Limited Company (LSE:VOD) is in early talks to acquire Cabovisão-Televisão por Cabo S.A. from Altice S.A. (ENXTAM:ATC). The sale process is at an early stage and is expected to last through the summer. The acquisition of Portugal Telecom by Altice is reportedly conditional upon the sale of Altice’s Portuguese businesses Oni and Cabovisão.

Vodafone Portugal Reportedly Mulls Bid For Cabovisão

Vodafone Portugal, Comunicações Pessoais, S.A. is mulling a bid for Cabovisão-Televisão por Cabo S.A., Jornal de Negocios reported citing Mario Vaz, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Portugal. Mario Vaz confirmed on March 10 that Vodafone Portugal is considering a bid for Cabovisao, according to Jornal de Negocios. Any deal would depend on the price asked and regulatory requirements, Mario Vaz told Jornal de Negocios.

Cabovisao Reports Earnings Results for the Full Year of 2014

Cabovisao reported earnings results for the full year of 2014. For the year, the company saw revenue fall 13% to EUR 182.8 million. This included an 11% decline in cable revenues to EUR 96.8 million and a 15% decline in B2B and other revenues to EUR 86.0 million. Cable ARPU fell 1.5% to EUR 34.10. EBITDA was EUR 57.7 million, flat on 2013, while the EBITDA margin expanded from 27.8% to 31.5%, mainly due to tight cost control in the cable business. Capex was flat versus 2013 at EUR 24.3 million.
