TRUSTe Announces Full Set of Solutions for Companies to Address Assessment, Verification and Dispute Resolution Requirements in New Framework

TRUSTe has announced a full set of solutions for companies to address the assessment, verification and dispute resolution requirements in the new framework. TRUSTe will help companies to review compliance with the new Privacy Shield principles for transfers of customer and HR data out of the EU, prior to self-certification with the Department of Commerce. Companies choosing to use TRUSTe technology for handling customer disputes will be entitled to display a new "Powered by TRUSTe - Privacy Feedback Button". The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield is the new international data transfer framework published in February to replace Safe Harbor. The new framework requires that companies meet stronger obligations to protect the personal data of Europeans and introduces stronger monitoring and enforcement by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). TRUSTe will amend its certification standards to reflect the changes. The Department of Commerce is expected to start accepting submissions to the program on August 1, 2016. TRUSTe is offering three separate packages to support companies in assessing and verifying that their data protection practices are compliant with the Privacy Shield principles ahead of self-certification with the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Assessment Package and Verification Package can include customer data, HR/employee data or both. In addition, TRUSTe provides a Dispute Resolution Package, which helps companies to efficiently manage privacy inquiries from customers, and addresses the dispute handling requirements of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. Companies that use TRUSTe technology and tools to manage privacy related questions or concerns will be entitled to display the new "Powered by TRUSTe Privacy Feedback Button" on their digital Privacy Policy page and links to a mechanism for consumers to submit questions or feedback. The TRUSTe assessment and verification solutions for EU-U.S. Privacy Shield are managed by a team of privacy professionals using its proprietary assessment methodology and powered by TRUSTe Assessment Manager. This SaaS-based privacy technology platform provides interactive compliance reviews, centralized on-demand reporting and searchable audit trails.

TRUSTe Announces Assessment Manager 2.0 Adding Greater Insight and Scale to Privacy Risk Management and Compliance

TRUSTe announced a host of new features that will be included in Assessment Manager 2.0 giving privacy teams increased visibility and control over their privacy program. The new version advances Assessment Manager, the latest module in TRUSTe's Data Privacy Management Platform that is used by over 1,000 companies worldwide for ongoing privacy risk management and compliance. Launched in March 2015, Assessment Manager was developed with the input of many well-known global brands spanning a wide range of industries. The first SaaS privacy assessment solution, Assessment Manager brings the benefits of automation to the privacy industry. This leads to greatly increased speed, efficiency and consistency in conducting Privacy Assessments such as PIAs. Now privacy teams can make the best use of limited resources while improving the overall quality of their data privacy management program. Assessment Manager 2.0 also introduces a new single user workflow that optimizes the assessment process for individuals and enhances the user experience for the new, entry-level Assessment Manager Pro version. Assessment Manager 2.0 introduces new features to support privacy offices in mitigating risk and managing complex privacy programs. These features include: Privacy Program Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); Configurable Program Dashboard; Enhanced Reporting, Program Management, and Remediation; Risk Scoring; Single User Workflow; and Smart Assessment Templates for new regulatory requirements such as EU GDPR. Assessment Manager 2.0 will be available starting November 2015. TRUSTe Assessment Manager is available as a standalone offering or as a module within the TRUSTe Data Privacy Management (DPM) Platform. Assessment Manager Pro Packages are available starting at $1,000 a month for a single seat license based on an annual contract.

TRUSTe Announces General Availability of Assessment Manager for Enterprises to Streamline Data Privacy Management with Automation

TRUSTe announced the General Availability of Assessment Manager bringing the benefits of automation to the privacy industry. This new capability of TRUSTe's Data Privacy Management Platform transforms how privacy assessments are conducted, enabling privacy teams to better keep pace with the ever-changing business, legal and regulatory landscape. The recently released TRUSTe Privacy Assessment Benchmarking Study found large enterprises typically conduct 59 Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) per year taking 285 hours per assessment. Assessment Manager was developed to greatly reduce the level of effort required for each Privacy Assessment, while improving the overall quality of the data privacy management program. Assessment Manager provides a highly automated solution following the same assessment methodology used by TRUSTe consultants and analysts. Its capabilities include data collection audits, compliance reviews, gap and risk analysis and workflow management. The recent beta program for Assessment Manager was fully subscribed, reflecting the strong market demand for data privacy management technology solutions among enterprises. The Privacy Controls Database in TRUSTe Assessment Manager will be enhanced by the integration of IT compliance controls from more than 800 regulatory requirements, standards and guidelines covered within the Unified Compliance Framework (UCF). Many IT compliance controls are vital to effective privacy compliance especially in the areas of technical security controls and data integrity. The UCF includes controls from a wide variety of regulations and guidelines, including: Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Basel II, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, PCI-DSS Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, NASD Manual and HIPAA.
