National Grid and the Union Reaches Tentative Agreement

Three hours before a midnight strike deadline, National Grid and the union representing nearly 1,200 natural gas and power plant workers announced that a tentative agreement had been reached. The negotiations lasted 10 weeks. The union said its members are expected to vote on the tentative agreement within the next two weeks. Union members authorized a possible strike a week ago, but prospects that National Grid would dodge a walkout brightened February 13, 2015 afternoon. National Grid said it had made preparations to ensure there were no outages if it failed to reach an accord with its workers.
