3 Italia Announces Earnings Results for the First Half of 2015

3 Italia announced earnings results for the first half of 2015. The company revenues rose 8% to EUR 881 million in the first six months of 2015, compared to EUR 815 million a year earlier. The operator's net service revenues also increased by 7% to EUR 710 million, while the company's EBTIDA soared by 36% to EUR 98 million compared to EUR 72 million in first half of 2014. Operating profit (EBIT) rose to a positive EUR 39 million from negative EUR 71 million a year earlier with the EBITDA margin inching up by two percentage points to 13%.
VimpelCom And Hutchison In Discussions For Joint Venture

VimpelCom Ltd. (NasdaqGS:VIP) confirmed that it is discussions with Hutchison Whampoa Limited (SEHK:13) regarding a possible equal joint venture between Hutchison’s subsidiary 3 Italia S.p.A. and VimpelCom’s subsidiary Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA. “There can be no assurances that an agreement will be signed and any transaction would be subject to, among other things, achieving satisfactory debt levels and obtaining all required corporate and regulatory approvals,” VimpelCom Chief Executive Officer Jean-Yves Charlier said in the statement. Negotiations between Hutchison and VimpelCom now focus on the structure of the venture, which would have more than 30 million customers and about $7.2 billion in 2014 revenue, people familiar with the matter said this week. The companies are projecting an agreement over the next three months, said one of the people.
Italian Consumers Demand Refund After AGCM Fines Telecom Italia, 3 Italia, Wind and Vodafone Italia

Italian consumer association Altroconsumo has called on Telecom Italia, 3 Italia, Wind and Vodafone Italia to refund customers after the country's competition regulator AGCM fined the operators a total of over EUR 5 million for premium mobile services charged without user permission. The watchdog accused the operators of unfair and aggressive commercial practices and of misleading customers by including paid services that weren't requested or were requested unknowingly on their monthly phone bills. Altroconsumo announced that the 'historic' decision but went on to say that 'every single euro, unjustly and wrongfully charged, must be refunded to customers'. The consumer body sent a formal notice to each operator, adding that it would be following the case closely and would proceed to file a collective class action if the operators refused to refund customers for charges incurred after they unknowingly subscribed to premium services.
