MStar Semiconductor, Inc. has unveiled a production-ready digital set-top-box platform developed in cooperation with MOPA Embedded Systems. The company has announced that it is supporting Brazil Analog Switch-Off, or ASO, and the transition to digital TV services. MOPA Embedded System has partnered with MStar in Ginga solution for MStar TV SoC product line several years. With existing successful experience on Ginga TV market, now MOPA further offers Production-Level middleware that fully implements the Ginga specification to benefit MStar's STB solution. Leveraging this cooperation, MStar can offers STB manufactures and brands to have the most efficient way to meet Brazilian government requirements during ASO program. The MStar's MPEG-4/MPEG-2 HD ISDB-T chipsets offer a high optimized set-top-box SoC platform for the Brazilian market, with running Brazil's digital TV Ginga middleware standards (Java and NCL). The Ginga middleware is mandated by the Brazilian government for Brazil set-top boxes ASO program.

Videocon d2h has selected MStar Semiconductor's high efficiency video codec, or HEVC, H.265 system-on-chip, or SoC, for its HD Zapper set-top-boxes, or STBs. MStar has successfully implemented HEVC technology in the HD solution which fits properly to save the bandwidth requirement with high definition picture quality. The operators and STB OEMs can reduce their development costs and time to market to meets the India market demands with the MStar HEVC-capable set-top box SoC solution.

MStar Semiconductor, Inc. announced that its latest set-top box system-on-chip (STB SoC) solution is now fully integrated with Irdeto’s Media Protection suite, most notably its newly-launched FlexiCore Processing technology. Irdeto is a world leader in Multiscreen, Revenue Assurance and Media Protection solutions for pay TV operators, OTT service providers and content owners with customers such as Astro, Comcast, Liberty Global, Foxtel, Orange TV, OCN and Videocon d2h. In order to provide an upgradable security core as root of trust, Irdeto and MStar have jointly developed this hardware security platform and built Irdeto’s FlexiCore Processing technology into MStar’s latest STB SoC. Mstar is the first to implement the FlexiCore Processor technology, further strengthening and bringing more features to Irdeto’s Cloaked CA and smart card CAS solutions. This security core hardware provides pay TV customers with content protection that will easily grow with their business and adapt for the future.
