LEAD Technologies Releases Version 19 of its LEADTOOLS Imaging SDKs for Android and iOS/OS X Platforms
Jun 23 16
LEAD Technologies released Version 19 of its LEADTOOLS imaging SDKs for Android and iOS/OS X platforms. Programmers creating mobile apps for Android and iOS and native desktop apps for OS X now have more imaging technology from LEADTOOLS at their disposal than ever before. This major release for the LEADTOOLS Android, iOS, and OS X development interfaces brings the high-performing OCR and Barcode engines included in LEADTOOLS mobile to Version 19, a new Swift-compatible API for iOS and OS X, introduces the new LEADTOOLS Credit Card Recognition Technology, and provides several other powerful imaging technologies to mobile platforms. Upgraded OCR, Barcode, and Document Writers – Previously running strong on LEADTOOLS Version 18, this release brings the LEADTOOLS Android, iOS, and OS X development libraries up to Version 19. With Version 19, developers gain access to vastly upgraded OCR and Barcode technologies. Additionally, the Document Writers, which are used by the OCR engine to save document formats, have been updated to bolster format support, including the addition of PDF and DOCX formats. Using Version 19 OCR as a foundation, LEADTOOLS mobile developers now have access to LEADTOOLS Driver's License Recognition and Passport Recognition technologies. LEAD's expert image processing and recognition developers have also significantly improved the speed and accuracy of LEADTOOLS recognition technologies on devices with fixed-focus digital cameras still found on many popular devices. LEADTOOLS recognition technology eliminates the obstacles associated with mobile recognition and is the most robust and comprehensive solution available. Credit Card Recognition – The new Credit Card Recognition SDK technology in LEADTOOLS provides a high-level framework to extract numerical data from credit cards. Utilizing the built-in camera on Android and iOS smart phones, developers can easily capture the credit card number and expiration date for use in their payment processing workflows. This new Credit Card API is a great addition for LEADTOOLS customers already utilizing existing recognition technologies such as MICR, OCR, and Driver's License Recognition to build a full-scale payment processing solution that can handle a wide variety of input documents and cards. Additional New Features for Mobile – With this upgrade, LEADTOOLS mobile SDKs have an even broader support for imaging features than ever before. The number of supported formats that can be loaded and saved has tripled from the previous version and now includes support for new raster, vector, and document formats such as CALS, DWG, PDF, and DOCX. The powerful and time-tested LEADTOOLS Annotation and Image Markup technology is now available for Android, iOS, and OS X development. By utilizing LEADTOOLS Annotation technology, developers can create mobile applications for users to markup images on a separate presentation layer or permanently change the image data. Be sure to try these and other mobile LEADTOOLS technologies by downloading the updated LEADTOOLS demo apps from the Apple App Store and Google Play. New Swift-Compatible API for iOS and OS X – LEAD reworked its Objective-C libraries from the ground up for a significantly improved experience for developers using Swift to create iOS and OS X applications. By taking advantage of new Objective-C features, such as generics and nullability, developing applications with LEADTOOLS in Swift is easier and more natural. Enhancing the ability to program with Swift appeals to a wider audience of app developers, and helps current LEADTOOLS customers modernize their codebases.
LEAD Technologies Releases Major Updates to LEADTOOLS Document and Medical SDKs
Nov 19 15
LEAD Technologies announced the release of a major update to the LEADTOOLS Document and Medical Product lines. This update includes across-the-board enhancements to Optical Character Recognition including speed, accuracy and memory usage. In addition to the OCR enhancements, LEAD improved various document formats, updated DICOM Specification compliance, and added new features to the Medical Viewer control on multiple development platforms. At the forefront of this update is the LEADTOOLS Advantage OCR Engine. Every facet of the LEADTOOLS' OCR algorithm is now faster or more efficient. From high-level operations such as automatic zone detection and page insertion, all the way down to spell checking and memory usage, each piece of the algorithm has been improved. The cumulative effect of these improvements resulted in an 82% speed boost to the overall performance of the LEADTOOLS Advantage OCR Engine. The improvements to the Advantage engine's AutoZone process did more than play a part in speeding up total recognition time. LEAD's AutoZone algorithm is able to recognize both vertical and horizontal text in the same document. Also, LEADTOOLS AutoZone goes beyond mixed language support and is even able to recognize different character sets such as Latin and Asian. These advanced techniques improved the recognition accuracy of the Advantage OCR engine, making it an incredibly competitive product for applications needing comprehensive OCR capabilities.
LEAD Technologies Releases Media Streaming Server SDK
Aug 12 15
LEAD Technologies announced the release of the Media Streaming Server SDK. This major addition to the LEADTOOLS Multimedia product line will be included with the LEADTOOLS Streaming Module (formerly the Video Streaming Module) and provides a programmer-friendly library for building professional audio/video multimedia streaming applications for playback on any device. The new Media Streaming Server provides a high-level framework for streaming high-quality audio/video content.
Using a single server, content providers can support a wide variety of both proprietary and industry-standard formats and protocols including Adobe Flash, Adobe HDS, Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Microsoft Smooth Streaming (SSF), RTSP and HTML5. With this flexibility, practically any device can play videos streamed from the LEADTOOLS Media Streaming Server, while the content provider only needs to maintain the source media in a single format. Once configured, the server automatically and adaptively converts any file within its repository on the fly to whatever streaming format is requested by the client. In addition to the Media Streaming Server, several codecs, multiplexers and demultiplexers received updates and new features. In particular, the ISO/MP4 format was upgraded with support for JPEG-compressed video, uncompressed video, and non-square pixels. The addition of JPEG compression to the ISO multiplexer and demultiplexer allows for smooth 30fps reverse playback and superior video editing capabilities. This highly-anticipated release is only the beginning of what LEADTOOLS plans to do with its Media Streaming Server. Future releases will include broadcasting live content and handling two-way streaming and communication with the goal of making LEADTOOLS Media Streaming Server the top choice for multimedia streaming among application developers and IT administrators alike.
