Carestream Health, Inc. Key Developments

Two Illinois Hospitals and Nine Affiliated Imaging Centers Reduce Radiation Dose with Carestream DR Systems

Edward-Elmhurst Health (Naperville, Ill.) has installed four CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution Plus and DRX-Evolution Systems, two CARESTREAM DRX-Ascend Systems, three CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems and retrofitted nine rooms with CARESTREAM DRX detectors. Two additional DRX mobile systems will be installed by year end to complete its conversion to DR technology. This conversion began several years ago as the health group started replacing existing CR systems with DR systems. The health system captures more than 120,000 X-ray exams a year. It has 30 standard-size 14 x 17 inch Carestream detectors and two 10 x 12 inch CARESTREAM DRX 2530C detectors that are used to image infants in NICU areas.

Canadian Community Hospital Purchases 11 Carestream Digital X-ray Systems

Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) in Toronto, Canada, purchased 11 CARESTREAM digital radiography systems as part of an upgrade from computed radiography to digital radiography (DR) at its General and Birchmount sites. The hospital’s diagnostic imaging management team conducted a thorough evaluation of existing imaging systems to determine which ones needed to be replaced and which were candidates for retrofitting to DR. During the first stage of upgrades, a CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution system was installed at the Birchmount site to service the emergency department and outpatient clinics. The hospital then purchased three CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray systems and converted two portable systems to DR with CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits. The third stage involved upgrading five X-ray rooms across both sites with Carestream DRX detectors and software. Carestream DRX systems capture X-ray images at outpatient clinics, inpatient units, operating rooms, critical care units and emergency departments at the Birchmount and General sites.

Summit Orthopedics Selects Carestream Digital Radiography Rooms for Specialty Center

Summit Orthopedics purchased four CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution Plus systems for its new comprehensive orthopaedic center in Eagan, Minn. The systems are installed in the 65,000 square foot clinical, surgery and treatment center and were purchased through NXC Imaging of Minneapolis, Minn. Summit Orthopedics has 32 locations in the greater Minneapolis area. The automated DRX-Evolution Plus systems capture hundreds of high-resolution images a day and offer advanced features, ease of use and excellent image quality. Specialists at the comprehensive orthopaedic center perform knee, hip and shoulder arthroscopy and replacements, advanced spine procedures, ACL repair and reconstruction, and surgical correction for rotator cuff tears and fractures along with other orthopaedic surgeries. Summit’s DRX-Evolution Plus system is equipped with a fixed CARESTREAM DRX Plus 4343 detector in the wall stand and a DRX Plus 3543 detector for use in the table Bucky and for tabletop exams. Carestream DRX detectors can be used with any DRX system to help deliver flexibility and productivity. Carestream’s table has a four-way floating top and lowers to a height of about 21 inches, which is helpful for imaging ill or injured patients.
