Optus reported earnings results for the second quarter and first half ended September 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company delivered significant revenue and EBITDA growth, underpinned by the strong performance of its mobile operations. Quarterly EBITDA increased 8% to AUD 706 million. Net profit was stable at AUD 230 million. Free cash flow for the quarter was AUD 71 million, reflecting continued investment in customer acquisition and retention. Operating revenue was up 7% to AUD 2.31 billion. Optus mobile service revenue increased 3% to AUD 1.22 billion, reflecting the popularity of My Plan Plus.

Optus Signs ICT Services Contract with Department of Immigration and Border Protection

Optus Business has signed a three - year contract with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to supply end-to-end telecommunications and managed IT services. Under the $115 million agreement, Optus will support the integration of the telecommunications services of the former Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection into the newly integrated Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). Under the new agreement, Optus will support close to 15,000 IP handsets, more than 1,000 Wireless Access Points and nearly 1,000 LAN switches, CCTV and Radio, all supported by a fully integrated and managed help desk. This is underpinned by Optus' high - performance multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) carriage network, satellite communications and mobile data to approximately 200 sites throughout Australia.
Optus Expands 4G Network to Horseshoe Bay

Optus announced it is bringing 4G services to Horseshoe Bay, which will deliver faster mobile internet speeds for customers with compatible 4G mobile phones and tablets, while also enhancing 3G customer experience. The upgrades are part of a 4G expansion programme that will bring the Optus 4G Plus network to regional areas across Australia. To support 4G services in Horseshoe Bay, the Optus mobile tower will be upgraded during the next few weeks. The latest Optus 4G Plus compatible devices include Samsung Galaxy S6, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, LG G3 and HTC One (M9).
