MAN Diesel & Turbo SE Key Developments

Volkswagen Denies Sale Of RENK And MAN Diesel

Volkswagen AG (XTRA:VOW3) reiterated that its large engines unit was not for sale, after Reuters reported the carmaker had received expressions of interest in the non-core unit since its emissions scandal broke out. "Speculation about the sale of the power engineering division of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE or RENK AG (DB:ZAR) are for sale," the company said.

Peers Circle Volkswagen's Large Engines Unit

Volkswagen AG (XTRA:VOW3) has received expressions of interest for a unit making engines used in ships or small power stations, as rivals sense an opportunity to get their hands on the asset as a result of the car maker's emissions scandal, several sources familiar with the matter said. Peers from China, Europe and the United States have recently told Volkswagen they would like to buy the operations of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE that are not central to its trucks business, they said, adding that the unit may be valued at up to ??€4-5 billion ($4.51-$5.6 billion). A Volkswagen spokeswoman described the reported interest as unfounded "speculation".

CSSC Marine Power Co., Ltd. Renews Four-Stroke License Agreement

CSSC Marine Power Co. Ltd. (CMP) renewed its contract with MAN Diesel & Turbo for another 10 years of production of four-stroke medium speed engines. The new agreement marks the renewal and continuation of a cooperation that first started in the 1980s. To date, CMP has delivered 5,000 units of MAN four-stroke diesel engines, equivalent to 4,700,000 kW. CMP also holds a license agreement for two-stroke MAN B&W engines, which it too renewed for a decade at a ceremony in Beijing earlier this year.
