Ekahau, Inc. Key Developments

Ekahau's RTLS Asset Tracking Solution Uses WLAN to Improve Operational Efficiency at Palmetto Health

Ekahau Inc. announced that its RFID-over-Wi-Fi asset tracking solution was implemented over the Cisco WLAN at Palmetto Health in Columbia, South Carolina. Ekahau Vision RTLS software along with Ekahau RTLS tags help caregivers instantly locate 1,000 infusion pumps and other vital medical equipment on web-accessible facility maps. Ekahau RTLS is also integrated with Cisco's Mobility Services Engine (MSE) which centralizes location data across two Palmetto Health campuses and improves the ease of data sharing on site. Ekahau Vision RTLS software also minimizes shrinkage at Palmetto Health by generating alerts if equipment enters user-defined 'restricted' zones such as exit areas. In addition, Ekahau Vision software automatically measures equipment par levels and asset utilization rates, providing unique business intelligence that can improve long-term equipment placement strategies, purchasing plans and overall availability.

Ekahau, Inc.'s Real-Time Asset Tracking Solution Improves Caregiver Productivity at Altru Health System

Ekahau Inc. announced that Altru Health System in Grand Forks, North Dakota deployed its asset tracking, management and analytics reporting solution to reduce staff search times for vital medical equipment, including, code blue crash carts, patient beds, specialty beds, wheel chairs, IV pumps and other bedside assets. Visiting families also use Ekahau's RTLS messaging badges at Altru Health to keep track of patient progress and surgery status. As a health system serving 409,515 outpatients and 13,927 inpatients each year, the ability to quickly secure medical equipment required for patient discharges, admissions and medical procedures is critical to operational efficiency and a positive patient experience. The Ekahau Vision(TM) RTLS software platform allows caregivers to search web-based maps for equipment by ID number, location and other attributes, saving time that would otherwise be spent searching room by room, while patients wait. In addition, Ekahau's geo-fencing feature also reduces the likelihood of equipment theft by alerting the closest staff members when equipment is about to leave through restricted zones such as exits. Ekahau Vision software also reports equipment utilization and availability rates and quantities of equipment in designated locations, in order to help managers better predict equipment demands, resource maintenance projects and right-size equipment budgets.

Ekahau Releases Version 7.0 of its Wi-Fi Site Survey and Planning Tool: Ekahau Site Survey

Ekahau, Inc. announced the release of version 7.0 of its Wi-Fi site survey and planning tool: Ekahau Site Survey. With the newest version of Ekahau Site Survey, WLAN engineers and IT administrators can conduct Wi-Fi site surveys using multiple Wi-Fi devices, simultaneously. Using multiple Wi-Fi adapters with ESS reduces the time it takes to complete a site walk and improves site survey speed by up to two times, while maintaining WLAN measurement accuracy. This translates into two times faster network verification and optimization. In addition, Ekahau Site Survey 7.0 offers other key improvements. A new automated WLAN channel optimizer suggests ideal channel configuration, taking into account wider 802.11ac and 802.11n channelization. For quickly analyzing differences in the Wireless LAN over time, such as emerging interference or coverage problems, ESS 7.0 offers a variety of "Network Differences" comparison features.
