General Motors Korea Launches 2015 Model Year Aveo Subcompact Car in South Korea
Nov 7 14
General Motors Korea has launched the 2015 model year Aveo subcompact car in South Korea. GM Korea's new product development team revealed that the automaker's 1.4-litre gasoline (petrol) turbo engine is now available on the entire Aveo range of models in the country. The 1.4-litre turbo engine produces 140 hp [of maximum power] at a lower rpm and generates steady torque, which provides stable and powerful output in real driving situations. The 1.4-litre engine was adapted for the Aveo RS and Cruze Turbo [initially and was] followed by the Trax as part of Chevrolet's downsizing powertrain strategy, and recently replaced the entire Aveo powertrain line-up in the South Korean market. The latest Aveo now comes as standard with a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist and electronic stability control. With the manual six-speed transmission, the car is claimed to achieve fuel-efficiency of 14.9 km/l. The Cruze, Aveo and the Trax models were initially launched in South Korea with 1.6, 1.8 and 2-litre gasoline and diesel engines, however, starting 2011 GM Korea began to introduce the smaller but fuel-efficient 1.4-litre gasoline turbo engine in its model line-up, according to IHS Automotive powertrain forecasts. All of these models are now available with the 1.4-litre turbo engine variant; the combined sales of these three models powered by the 1.4-litre turbo engine surged to 32,664 units in South Korea last year, more than double from 15,401 units in 2011.
