IBT Media Announces Management Changes for Newsweek

IBT Media announced that Newsweek has appointed Matt McAllester, current Editor, Newsweek International, as Global Editor in Chief, Newsweek, effective February 14, 2017. The move will help Newsweek accelerate its vision to bring a more consistent and unique global perspective to its readership around the world. As part of the transition, Jim Impoco, Editor in Chief, Newsweek will step down. McAllester plans to relocate to New York this spring, and Newsweek International will be actively seeking a new London-based editor.

Newsweek Announces Appointments to Editorial Team

Newsweek announced hires to its editorial team as it seeks to continue to deliver ground-breaking intelligence and entertainment to a discerning media audience. The hires come as parent company IBT Media UK. Serena Kutchinsky has been appointed Digital Editor of Newsweek Europe. She comes from Prospect Magazine where she was Digital Editor. Kutchinsky was also the Assistant Digital Editor of the Sunday Times. She has worked at Condé Nast, Time Out and thelondonpaper and is an expert on digital culture, politics and gender - frequently chairing debates at events such as the Hay literary festivals, the Edinburgh Book Festival and BBC Radio 3's Free Thinking Festival. Kutchinsky will be leading the growing digital team and helping to plan Newsweek's strategy for growth. Graham Smith has been hired as Kutchinsky's Deputy Online News Editor and joins Newsweek from businesstraveller.com. Smith spent many years at the Mail Online. Anthony Cuthbertson will also be joining Newsweek Europe in January. He made his mark last year at the International Business Times UK, IBT Media's news offering which focuses on the multitude of forces shaping the 21st century's borderless global economies. Cuthbertson was part of an editorial team at IBT UK.
