Leviton Introduces New Line of Extra-Heavy Duty Industrial and Hospital Grade Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter Receptacles

Leviton introduced the new line of SmartlockPro Extra-Heavy Duty Industrial and Hospital Grade Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) Receptacles. The new devices comply with the new revision to the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard 943 that requires self-testing functionality for all newly manufactured devices after June 29, 2015. The new Extra-Heavy Duty Industrial and Hospital-Grade GFCIs are engineered to withstand the harshest environments, as evident in their new construction features, including a durable wraparound strap for superior support in abusive environments and an impact-resistant PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) face cover that protects the device from harsh chemicals. Additionally, safety and efficiency features have been built in for added protection, including patented line terminal clamps initially held open to expedite first time wiring and removable safety covers on feed through terminals. Designed with the installer in mind, the devices include features that reduce the chance of miswire and provide dependable and secure connections. In addition to these safety features, Leviton's SmartlockPro® Self-Test GFCIs also have the slimmest GFCI profile on the market, allowing for easier installation in wallboxes.

Leviton Launches New SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI

Leviton announced that it is launching a new SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI that will meet the new requirements of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard 943 (GFCIs) taking effect this June. This product launch is the next step in its evolution to improve electrical safety in the home, providing homeowners with one of the safest and smartest GFCI solutions on the market. Revisions to the UL 943 Standard require all GFCI receptacles manufactured after June 29, 2015 to have an auto-monitoring feature (self-test technology) which conducts an internal test to ensure that it is providing protection from ground faults. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCIs also include Leviton's patented Reset Lockout protection and have the slimmest GFCI profile on the market, making them a safer and smarter choice. The SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI has an intuitive LED indicator to let homeowners know whether or not the GFCI is providing protection. If the self-test detects any condition that would indicate GFCI protection might be compromised, the visual indicator provides an alert by switching from green to red and the GFCI may be automatically tripped, indicating that the homeowners should check the device for proper operation and replace if necessary. If the device is no longer providing protection, Leviton's patented Reset/Lockout feature provides an added level of safety by preventing reset if the device cannot respond to a ground fault. In addition to these safety features, Leviton's SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI also has the slimmest GFCI profile on the market, allowing for easier installation in wallboxes, saving time for contractors, electricians or DIYers.

Leviton Launches EN50131 and PD6662 Compliant Omni Security & Automation Systems

Leviton announced the launch of the EN50131 and PD6662 compliant Omni product family, comprised of EU versions of the OmniPro II, Omni IIe, and Omni LTe controllers in both English and Italian language versions, along with a new Tamper Kit for Omni security consoles. The Omni product family provides security and automation for homes and small commercial settings, connecting security devices, thermostats, light switches, telephone and backup battery with five built-in ports to connect additional control devices. The award-winning Omni solution is a globally-utilized residential/light commercial focused system bridging many protocols, including hard-wired and wireless, to include hundreds of connected devices in various applications. Omni controllers coordinate security, energy and entertainment functionality with EN50131 Grade 2 compliance for intrusion and PD6662 compliance in the United Kingdom for confirmed police response. The EN50131 versions include special features not found in the standard Omni control systems, such as controller enclosures that include required tamper switches, ensuring the door remains closed and that the enclosure remains installed against a solid surface. Additionally, the ENTMP- 9EU is now used with existing Omni security consoles as a tamper indicator. Additional special features in the EN50131 versions include: Double end of line resistors for tamper detection. New arming/disarming methods. Shunt lock incorporation. Confirmed alarms for police response. Temporary lockout when entering an invalid code. Enhanced event log. User authorized firmware updates. Entry/exit follower. Adjustment to security code usage and visibility. The Leviton Omni controllers feature EN50131 Class II, Grade 2 equipment for control and indicating equipment and have the following compliance listings: EN 50131-1:2006, EN 50131-3:2009, EN 50131-6, and PD 6662:2010. Additionally, an Expansion Enclosure (OA179-9EU) and Omni Console Tamper Kit (ENTMP-9EU) assist with compliance. The English versions of the EN50131 and PD6662 compliant product family are now available, and the Italian versions will ship soon. The OmniPro II is available in English (OP202-900) and Italian (OP202-9IT). The Omni IIe is available in English (20A50-900) and Italian (20A050-9IT).
