Brookfield Asset Management Reportedly Mulls Acquisition Of Center Parcs From Blackstone Group

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (TSX:BAM.A) is in talks to acquire Center Parcs (UK) Group Limited from The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX), people with knowledge of the matter said. Brookfield’s offer of about £2.4 billion topped bids from others, including groups led by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and CVC Capital Partners Limited, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information. Blackstone could reach an agreement to sell the business as soon as next week. The acquisition would be made through Brookfield’s publicly traded subsidiary, Brookfield Property Partners L.P. (NYSE:BPY), and funds managed by the parent, one of the people said. Should the talks fail, Blackstone may proceed with an initial public offering of Center Parcs instead, the people said. Other reported bidders for the company, in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board or CVC Capital Partners, were GIC Pte. Ltd., Starwood Capital Group, and KSL Advisors, LLC.

The Blackstone Group, Private Equity Group has owned Center Parcs for nine years and is weighing whether to float the company or sell it to a suitor.
