Cisco and TV Globo expanded partnership to create an eye-popping 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) ‘Future of Video’ internal demonstration during the World Cup, showcasing exclusively to Globo executives how the future live sports experiences could look and feel for viewers in the home. A longtime Cisco customer, TV Globo is encouraged by the opportunities that 4K/Ultra HD video offers to redefine the user experience. This was the perfect event to show the amazing things that can be done with 4K/Ultra HD and Cisco Videoscape ™ to offer riveting experiences for the TV and beyond. Cisco used a wall-sized screen to display multiple statistics ranging from the main action in the field, such as fouls, yellow and red cards, team lineups, and player biographies. These were being generated in real time, running parallel to one side of the main broadcast screen that was showing the match, fully immersing the viewer in the game. Synchronized, personalized, social: When a team scored a goal, the user could view three additional angles in real time, all perfectly synchronized with the main screen. Users can seamlessly interact with the TV screen using tablets, laptops and smartphones to serve as a remote, and to share real-time stats and comments with friends on social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), running parallel to the main screen. Cisco and TV Globo have a long-standing partnership that has pushed the envelope in evolving traditional video experiences to include second screen and now next-generation experiences. The development and launch of a synchronized second screen video application for The Voice Brasil powered by Cisco® Videoscape last year helped drive peak viewership, with 70% growth over the previous season. TV Globo is continuing its work with Cisco to experiment with the possibilities to define the future of live sports video experiences.
