Webroot Announces Updates to Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection

Webroot announced updates to Webroot SecureAnywhere(R) Business Mobile Protection. As more employees rely on their mobile devices for both personal and professional activities, the risk of mobile malware and unsafe applications presents challenges for organizations. Webroot's enhancements allow managed service providers (MSPs) and information technology (IT) administrators insight into applications installed across all mobile devices under IT management. The latest edition of Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Mobile Protection includes visibility into employees' risky mobile application behavior. This enables enterprise-level visibility into mobile applications installed across businesses of all sizes, as well as insight into the specific security risks associated with those applications. Webroot also offers a new iOS(R) app to provide essential security for iPhones and iPads and includes lost device protection for the more than 800 million iOS devices currently in use. Rather than rely on standard Apple iOS device management capabilities to protect devices, Webroot's new iOS app introduces additional functionality for lost device protection that allows customers to remotely locate an Apple mobile device, make the device scream and lock or wipe the device if it's misplaced or stolen. Device Information Visibility provides Webroot customers deep insight into the location and security status of the mobile devices they manage, without interrupting the user, including indicators of devices with security risks and whether a device has been compromised. The addition of app visibility and reputation brings enterprise-level information to businesses at all levels. Webroot customers are armed with the information to proactively minimize risks, maintain compliance with corporate BYOD policies and protect the multitude of mobile devices connected to the enterprise network. Device Information Visibility will be available to Webroot customers in early 2015. Existing customers will receive new product features automatically via the cloud. The Webroot iOS app is also available for administrators to send download invitations to mobile device users they manage.

Webroot Introduces Enhanced IP Reputation Service to Enable Next Generation Mobile Protection Capabilities

Webroot announced that its Webroot BrightCloud IP Reputation Service will be offered as part of the HP Enterprise Security Products portfolio to enhance visibility into threats introduced to customer networks by corporate and employee-owned (BYOD) mobile devices. The BrightCloud IP Reputation Service is a real-time threat intelligence service that helps enterprise customers identify malicious IPs in their network traffic. Webroot has enhanced the BrightCloud IP Reputation Service to leverage Webroot's world class Mobile App Reputation database of over 11 million mobile applications. This allows the service to detect communication channels that malicious apps use to control or extract sensitive personal or business data. HP users can now utilize this feature to identify malicious IP traffic associated with mobile apps.

Webroot Inc. Announces New Updates to its Webroot Secureanywhere Portfolio for Individuals and Families

Webroot Inc. announced new updates to its Webroot SecureAnywhere(R) portfolio for individuals and families. Webroot's latest release continues to provide the crucial combination of ease of installation and award-winning customer support, while introducing even greater internet protection for superior user experience. According to a recent customer survey, primary online security concerns are protecting personal and financial information, as well as online identity. Consumers recognize that their personal information is a target for cybercriminals and that they are at risk across all devices and operating systems. Webroot's enhancements bring customers more comprehensive security with webcam protection, advanced journaling and rollback, and enhanced self-learning malware detection. These added features extend protection to a wider range of applications, data and customers, making the Webroot SecureAnywhere product family one of the most compelling internet security solutions on the market. Webroot also offers a new 10 license family pack, created to address the increasing number of internet connected devices per household. Cybercriminals are using malware, such as remote access tools (RATs), to take over user computers for spying, invasion of personal privacy and, in some cases, extortion and financial gain. They capture images of bank details, credit cards and other sensitive data and personal activities that were never intended to be shared. This creates a major security risk and is often incredibly difficult to track. Proactive security solutions from Webroot detect, block and remove malware that attempt to utilize webcams. Webroot also analzes over two million potentially unwanted aplications (PUAs) per month to protect users from software that may negatively impact browsing experience by adding unnecessary extensions, plugins and toolbars that track online behavior. Webroot has enhanced the fail-safe rapid rollback functionality that undoes collateral damage from malware infections, reducing the need to repair or replace infected computers. Webroot also provides backup features built into SecureAnywhere solutions that allow users to sync directories automatically to the cloud. If a user were to get infected by a zero day variant of encrypting ransomware, they could restore the files back to their previous, uninfected version using advanced journaling technology.
