Aras Corporation Key Developments
Zuken Inc. and Aras Corporation Partner to Deliver EDM/PLM Environment
Sep 12 16
Zuken Inc. and Aras Corporation have entered into a partnership to develop a new approach for managing cross-discipline product development processes that include electrical and electronic design data from design creation to manufacturing. The new solution will span enterprise processes across the lifecycle, as well as detailed electrical design and manufacturing. The partnership will deliver functionality that couples a domain-specific work-in-process (WIP) library and design data management system, with the enterprise PLM platform. The result will replace traditional "zip-up-the-directory" functionality with significant new capabilities that include where-used traceability for IP blocks and components, merging of design and manufacturing processes, and enhanced ECO processes. Aras will provide Aras Innovator, an enterprise-level PLM platform and suite, for the complex systems engineering processes in product development, manufacturing, quality and the supply chain. The combination will provide engineers across the organization with improved data integrity and more efficient processes from design through to manufacturing. The new solution is planned to be available early in the 2017 calendar year.
Aras Announces PLM Platform-Based Application for Manufacturing Process Planning
Sep 1 16
Aras announced the availability of the Aras Manufacturing Process Planning application for a new platform-based approach to managing the complex business processes that extend from product development through manufacturing. New capabilities bring together the Manufacturing Process Plan, Work Instructions and MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Materials) making them interdependent and automatically synchronized as changes occur. This innovation enables direct EBOM (Engineering BOM) to MBOM translation bridging the gap enterprises have and creating the process foundation necessary for Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet initiatives. Using Aras MPP, global product teams are able to concurrently define manufacturing processes, work instructions and MBOMs while avoiding the EBOM/MBOM conflicts, especially in products that combine complicated mechanical designs with electronics, software and firmware. Process plans include operations, equipment and tooling illustrated with models, drawings, pictures, graphics, videos and text. Automatic EBOM/MBOM reconciliation results in traceability between the as-designed and as-planned configurations to provide the basis for a digital thread across the product lifecycle.
