Hit Entertainment Appoints Christopher Keenan as New Global Head of Content and Production

Hit Entertainment Appointed Christopher Keenan as New Global Head of Content and Production. Based in HIT Entertainment’s London office, Keenan will continue the HIT Content Development and Production team’s work of building powerful preschool brands through engaging stories and content across multiple platforms. Keenan will oversee HIT’s centre of excellence for content and development, reporting to Edward Catchpole. He will replace Michael Carrington in the global head of production role.

Hit Entertainment Announces New Appointments

As part of its continued expansion, HIT Entertainment has appointed Karen Davidsen in the role of Director of Production, Global Content; Phil Molloy as Senior Creative Manager, Global Content; and Luca Magnani as Global Brand Director, Thomas & Friends. Based in HIT’s London office, Davidsen and Molloy will report in to Michael Carrington, Vice President Global Content & Executive Producer. As the business evolves from producing shows for traditional TV to include digital distribution outlets and in readiness for new emerging platforms, these new hires will be critical to global production and the business across the HIT Brands portfolio. Davidsen has over 20 years’ experience and has returned to HIT Entertainment, having previously worked for the business from 1998-2007. In this new role, she is responsible for all the organisational aspects of production scheduling and budgeting, and will oversee all production personnel. Her remit will also include identifying new studios and production talent. Prior to this, Davidsen was Director of Production and Original Programming at Walt Disney Company responsible for original programming across Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior Production Unit across EMEA. Her previous experience also includes Channel 4 and Hibbert Ralph Entertainment where she produced the second series of ‘William’s Wish Wellingtons’ and award-winning series ‘The Forgotten Toys’. Molloy brings with him 11 years’ experience and joins the team from Spectrecom Films where he was Creative Director, responsible for creative strategy and output of film-based advertising campaigns for the likes of Plants Vs Zombies (SEGA/PopCap Games).

HIT Entertainment and Universal Studios Home Entertainment Enter Into Distribution Pact for Thomas & Friends(R), Angelina Ballerina(R), Barney & Friends(R), Bob The Builder(R) and HIT's Greater Preschool Portfolio in North America

HIT Entertainment and Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced a deal that gives Universal distribution rights to HIT's family content library including Thomas & Friends(R), Angelina Ballerina(R), Barney & Friends(R), Bob the Builder(R), Pingu(R), Kipper(R), and more. As part of the arrangement, Universal acquires rights to distribute, sell, and market hundreds of titles from HIT's extensive content library in the U.S. and Canada across Blu-ray, DVD, Electronic Sell-Through and VOD platforms. Universal will begin to distribute and market the HIT Entertainment catalog on October 1. In addition, the two companies will work together to distribute new content produced by HIT, including the upcoming Thomas & Friends feature length special, 'Tale of the Brave,' due out in fall 2014. With the HIT partnership, Universal now distributes Mattel's top powerhouse brands in North America starting from HIT's preschool portfolio through Mattel's girls and boys brands. Universal Studios Home Entertainment currently distributes Blu-ray, DVD and Digital animated content based on some of Mattel's hit brands including Barbie(R), Monster High(R), and Hot Wheels(R), and live-action content for American Girl(R).
