Jul 7 15
PA Consulting won a GBP 750 million (excluding VAT) multiple awardees contract award from Scottish Government to provide digital and technology services. The key aim of the DATS framework is to provide Scottish public sector and third sector bodies (Framework Public Bodies) with one-stop access to a commercial arrangement for the purchase of a suite of digital and technology services. The DATS Framework Agreement will form part of a wider portfolio of ICT Services Frameworks available to Framework Public Bodies. The DATS Framework Agreement is intended to deliver a diverse range of digital and technology services to Framework Public Bodies. The DATS Framework will support a wide and extensive range of projects of differing sizes, levels of complexity, value and risk. The Contractor will be required to develop, implement and manage digital and technology services which may include bespoke and standard commoditised solutions and the use of open standards. It is likely that no 2 requirements under the Framework Agreement will be the same in terms of scale or scope and each Framework Public Body or collection of bodies, will have its own specific requirements and needs in terms of budget, service delivery, technical outputs and sustainability outcomes. The Contractor will be required to provide services to Framework Public Bodies throughout Scotland. The contractor will be required to provide digital and technology services which meet the current and future needs of the Scottish public sector. The services to be provided under the Framework Agreement will be extensive and wide ranging and no two projects are likely to be the same. Projects may range from the delivery of service desks, transformational digital/ICT projects, service/system integration, product support, network support etc. to large scale fully managed projects covering a diverse range of IT services. Some of the key (but not limited to) service delivery areas are likely to include; ICT Project and Programme Management, Cyber Security, Digital Services, Service Integration and Management (SIAM), IT Consultancy (Advice and Strategy) and Systems Integration. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list but at a high level illustrates the range of potential services which may be required.

PA Consulting Group Patents Dynamic QR Authentication System to Prevent Fraud
Oct 14 13
PA Consulting Group (PA) has patented a new technology that allows consumers to instantly confirm the authenticity of luxury goods, tickets and other items via their smartphone. The new dynamic QR system will be demonstrated at CTIA MobileCON at the San Jose Convention Center, Calif, October 16, 2013. In this new approach, a continuously changing QR code is attached to a product, device or ticket; the code can then be read and verified by the consumer upon purchase using a smartphone application. Each incarnation of the code is only valid for a specific time frame -- seconds, minutes or hours, depending on the use -- making it virtually impossible for fraudsters to copy. Previously, QR codes were unsuitable for secure authentication purposes, because the codes are easy to copy and duplicate. PA Consulting Group's system can bring immediate benefits in many areas where security, authenticity, traceability or validity is of significance to the supplier and to the end user, particularly in areas such as consumer products, ticketing, transport, supply chain and pharmaceuticals. Potential uses for the QR authentication system include: Product authenticity; Ticketing for transport and events; Advertising and promotions; Real-time lotteries and prize events and On-packet promotional campaigns. This innovation combines the concepts of machine readable codes and a time changing authentication system to produce an authentication scheme which can be applied to any machine readable code such as 2D barcodes, 3D barcodes and QR codes.
