Raycom Media Names James Finch as Regional News Director

James Finch, the news director at Birmingham’s WBRC-TV/Fox 6 for more than seven years, has been named regional news director for the station’s parent company Raycom Media. Finch, who joined Fox 6 almost 20 years ago as a photojournalist and producer, will assume his new duties with Raycom Jan. 1, TV media insider Rick Gevers reported on his website. Finch will continue to be based out of Birmingham. Prior to joining Fox 6, Finch served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat correspondent. He has been the news director at Fox 6 since July 2007. In his new role as Raycom’s regional news director, Finch will replace Larry Silbermann.

Raycom Media, Inc. Opens New Charlotte Operation at Ayrsley

Raycom Media Inc. has leased approximately 26,000 square feet at the Charleston Row building in Ayrsley for a new centralized traffic operation based in Charlotte. Raycom moved into 18,500 square feet of space at Ayrsley in May and currently has about 60 people working there, Pope says. About 35% of the employees were previously with Raycom and relocated from other company sites, and the rest are new hires, including a number of recent college graduates, he says. The company expects to occupy the remaining 7,500 square feet of space in late August and will likely add 25 to 30 more employees as part of that second phase.
