Update On Sale Of Spirit AeroSystems’ Fabrication Work; Talks Over Sale Fall Apart
Sep 21 15
Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPR) is planning to sell its fabrication and machining work. Machinists Union said talks had broken down over the potential sale. Onex Corporation (TSX:OCX) and Advanced Integration Technology, Inc. (AIT) were the potential suitors. I don't know what actually broke down in talks, but I know that Larry Lawson, if he wants something to happen, he will make it happen," Frank Molina, president of the Machinists District said, adding “We have had plenty of tests with Larry over obstacles or problems with Spirit, and we have always overcome them.”
Spirit AeroSystems Reportedly End Talks With Onex Corporation And Advanced Integration Technology Over Fab Unit Sale
Sep 17 15
Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. has reportedly ended talks of sale of its fabrication work to Onex Corporation (TSX:OCX) and Advanced Integration Technology, Inc. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 70 in Wichita on September 17, 2015, told members that Spirit AeroSystems Inc. has ended talks with Onex Corp. and Advanced Integration Technology over the possible sale of its local fabrication and machining division. The union has been in favor of the sale, as its understanding was that Onex/AIT were the only potential bidders interested in keeping the work in Wichita. Spirit said in a statement that, although it is looking at options in the market, it had nothing to announce regarding the talks.
Bidders For Spirit AeroSystems' Fabrication Work Talk With Union
Jul 27 15
Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc.'s (NYSE:SPR) sale of its fabrication work is on a "fast track," its largest union told members at the company. Machinists union representatives met with a bargaining team from Onex Corporation (TSX:OCX) and Advanced Integration Technology, Inc. as Spirit continues working to sell its fabrication unit. Should Onex and AIT be the successful bidders, the new company, to be called Advanced Fabrication, would hire Spirit workers and build a large air-conditioned facility in the Wichita area to take on the work, the Machinists union told members. A team of Onex and AIT are one of the bidders for the work, the union has said. "These negotiations are on a fast track and we will be bargaining hard on your behalf in the next few weeks," Molina said in the memo. "All future negotiations are predicated on the fact that Onex/Advanced Fab is awarded the Asset Purchase Agreement" from Spirit, he said.
