American Association of School Administrator Appoints S. Dallas Dance to Executive Committee

S. Dallas Dance, superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, has been named to serve a three-year term on the executive committee of American Association of School Administrators, The School Superintendents Association. Dance was appointed to this position by David R. Schuler, superintendent of High School District 214 in Arlington Heights, Ill., and president-elect of AASA. The 22-member committee meets quarterly and conducts the ongoing business of the organization. Prior to his appointment in Baltimore County, Dance served as one of three chief school officers responsible for the administration of nearly 300 schools in the Houston Independent School District.
American Association of School Administrators and Jason Learning Announce Partnership to Promote Stem Education

American Association of School Administrators and JASON Learning have launched a nationwide STEM partnership to bolster teaching and learning excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Created in part by the National Geographic Society, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, NASA and other international STEM leaders, JASON Learning is used by more than three million students nationwide. By virtue of its robust, cloud-based platform--the JASON Mission Center--students are encouraged to explore and develop learning experiences at their own pace through a variety of media resources. Through this partnership, AASA members will have the opportunity to access the entire JASON program. The package includes curriculum, videos, assessments, support materials and some of the best thinking about STEM. The program will provide schools with lesson plans, assessments and comprehensive professional development programs. The program will also: Deliver professional development opportunities for superintendents in STEM curricula; Create opportunities for superintendents to become part of JASON Learning's National Argonaut Program an initiative that's engaged hundreds of students and educators worldwide in hands-on, scientific field work.
