Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) announced its plan to open the HSS ASC of Manhattan in June 2017. The HSS ASC of Manhattan will focus on hand, foot and ankle and sports medicine surgeries. The 22,425 square-foot center is conveniently located at 1233 Second Avenue at 65th Street, a short distance from the Hospital main campus. The center features four operating rooms and a 16 bay pre- and post-surgical unit. The HSS ASC of Manhattan is optimizing the care delivery system by providing another surgical location option for patients.
David S. Levine, MD, foot and ankle surgeon at HSS, will serve as the center's medical director. Bryan Guss, RN, BSN, CNOR, will be the new senior director of the ASC and is joining HSS from Northern Westchester Hospital.

The Center will bring together HSS experts and services to accelerate the operations and science of high-value musculoskeletal care worldwide. The core functions of this Center include: Value Measurement and Communication: Expand HSS value-related data and analytic capabilities within the Center. Value-Based Care Delivery: Build the infrastructure to integrate into care delivery routine measurement and reporting of metrics to optimize care outcomes, minimize complications and manage musculoskeletal disease as efficiently as possible while maintaining the best outcomes for patients.; Innovative Value Tool Development: Partner with HSS Innovations and work with external partners to design supportive technologies leveraging HSS value-based care. Expand HSS musculoskeletal offerings and delivery of technologies for use in the broader healthcare market.; Value Research: Advance the development of predictive models for health improvement, risks, utilization of services and costs of care. Perform research that will inform the development and adoption of accurate and fair quality measures for musculoskeletal disease.; Value Education: Design new musculoskeletal health CME course and educational materials to extend high-value training worldwide.

Hospital for Special Surgery is expanding its New England footprint by teaming up with Stamford Health to create a center for advanced orthopedic care. HSS Orthopedics at Stamford Health will begin accepting its first ambulatory surgery patients at the Tully
Health Center, an outpatient facility, later this month. The orthopedic care center will be staffed with HSS surgeons.
