Sterling Construction Company Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company, LLC, or RLW, has won a contract, as part of a joint venture with Granite Construction Inc., from the Colorado Department of Transportation to replace the Grand Avenue Bridge in Glenwood Springs. Sterling's portion of the $76 million contract is approximately $37 million. The joint venture construction management/general contractor (CM/GC) team will be responsible for the replacement of the 60-year-old, 1,000-foot traffic bridge, and 600-foot pedestrian bridge spanning I-70, the Colorado River and two Union Pacific Railroad mainline tracks. The project will improve public safety, including emergency service response, and reliability of the bridge as a critical transportation route. Funding for the project is provided by the Colorado Bridge Enterprise. Construction is scheduled to begin January 2016 and scheduled for completion by Summer 2018.

Sterling Construction Company Inc. said that its Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction subsidiary won a contract from the Utah Department of Transportation as part of joint venture with Staker Parson. The award entails the construction of the second segment of a multi-phase new road project on the western side of the Salt Lake Valley. The project calls for the construction of 21 bridges, along with the associated drainage, mechanically stabilized earth walls, cast-in-place walls, and prestressed concrete cylinder pipe. Construction will begin in January 2016 with expected completion by fall 2017. RLW's portion of the contract is valued at approximately $38 million.
