Grand Canyon University May Go Private

Grand Canyon University may become a private school at least in terms of the financial market as officials are looking at taking the school off the markets. In a statement released Wednesday, Grand Canyon University President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Mueller said the university would look at going private again after its financial position improved enough that it can stand on its own without investment. Mueller said part of the reason Grand Canyon University was considering going private again was because of the stigma associated with for-profit schools.

Grand Canyon University Names Mike Vaught as Vice President of Athletics

Grand Canyon University has named Mike Vaught the new Vice President of Athletics as the school continues its transition to the Division I level of NCAA athletics. Prior to his six years at SMU, Vaught was an assistant AD at Rice University.

Grand Canyon University Buys Apartment Complex Near Phoenix Campus

Grand Canyon University bought a run-down apartment complex next to its west Phoenix campus for $5.1 million. The for-profit Christian school acquired the 200-unit Camelback Vista apartments from an investor-owner Texas. The University reported that the school is contemplating future uses for the property but said the existing 36-year old complex likely will be demolished at some point.
