SES Government Solutions Secures Contract for Thule Tracking Station Digital Signal 3 Service
Jul 6 16
SES Government Solutions has been awarded the Thule Tracking Station Digital Signal 3 (DS3) Service contract to continue to provide the U.S. Government with critical communications capabilities. The service supports a global network that enables national-level missile warning, space surveillance, space control, and satellite command and control. The service consists of a one-year base period, with four one-year option periods for a total contract value of over USD 10 million. The solution connects key sensors to operations centers for missile defense missions and serves Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The contract provides Air Force Space Command with dedicated communications between Thule Air Base in Greenland and Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The solution includes commercial satellite bandwidth, contractor-provided hub equipment, teleport service and antennas. Thule’s arctic environment, unpredictable weather patterns, and near-horizon location provide unique technical and logistical challenges. SES GS continues to provide a robust communications solution to overcome these challenging conditions.
SES Government Solutions and O3b Networks Limited Jointly Complete Performance Network for NOAA Worldwide Satellite Communications Systems II
Jun 14 16
SES Government Solutions and O3b Networks Limited has announced that they have jointly completed the first O3b managed services installation for NOAA Worldwide Satellite Communications Systems II 's National Weather Service Office (NWSO) at Pago Pago, American Samoa. This remote station is responsible for providing critically important tropical weather alerts and cyclone warning information to a large part of the Pacific. This task order is part of the NOAA Worldwide Satellite Communications Systems II (WSCS II) contract. The O3b service will provide a reliable, low latency link for passing critically important weather information between the NSWO in Pago Pago and the NWS headquarters Office on Ford Island in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a result, NWS can now rapidly deliver large weather files from observation offices in American Samoa to scientists and meteorologists in Hawaii and across the US mainland. This implementation included the procurement and installation of the O3b terminals, radomes and the ground segment network. Once the hardware was installed, the team supported the end-to-end service testing. The service was delivered on-time and within service level specifications, including the cutover of live traffic through the O3b network on 23 May 2016.
SES Government Solutions Wins Army TROJAN Contracts
Apr 14 16
SES Government Solutions was the sole winner of the two U.S. Government TROJAN follow-on contracts which support U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). These contracts support the premier Army intelligence network, using the SES global data network. Both contracts were awarded as Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA’s) with a five year period of performance. While there is no minimum guarantee under a BPA for either contract, the current contract with SES GS currently utilizes slightly more than 400 MHz. The Army’s TROJAN Network provides access to a global, end-to-end network, complete with multi-band service tailored to meet specific U.S.INSCOM requirements. The SES GS suite of capabilities enhances combat readiness of military personnel by streaming data, voice and video to and from intelligence centers. Performance on the program is based on delivering operational availability at the highest levels. This network also includes terminals and ground infrastructure for the U.S. Army soldiers and decision makers from multiple locations across the globe.
