Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Launches Digital Professional Learning Solution for Teachers

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development launched ASCD myTeachSourcea centsa classroom-focused, teacher-driven digital subscription that delivers monthly topic packs on popular instructional strategies. The new product, which was debuted last week at the 2015 ASCD Conference on Educational Leadership in San Diego, Calif., is designed for ease of use and is accessible from computers or mobile devices. Teachers can learn about all of the product's features and sign up for a free trial at myteachsource.ascd.org. ASCD myTeachSource is currently available free for all ASCD members and can also be purchased as a stand-alone annual subscription for $29 per year. Subscriptions are available at a discount when purchased for a group of teachers or school team. The product features include: Practical, evidence-based articles, tools, links, and discussion prompts delivered as part of monthly topic packs. Current topic packs include formative assessment, classroom management, and student engagement, and new packs will be added each month. Video content that models best practices. Actionable tools, such as checklists, reproducibles, and rubrics to enable teachers to put what they've learned into practice. Starting in December, new resources articles, videos, or tools will be added weekly. Discussion threads that enable teachers to share their knowledge and learn from one another. ASCD myTeachSource is designed to enable personalized professional learning paced and driven by the individual user. Users can customize their learning experience by taking notes within the platform, saving favorite content, using tags to create collections, and filtering relevant topics. All saved notes, favorites, and tags will be available users from the menu at any time during navigation.
ASCD Promotes Theresa Lewallen to Chief Constituent Services Officer

ASCD announced that Theresa Lewallen has been promoted to chief constituent services officer for the association. In this role, she will oversee and provide strategic guidance to the public policy, whole child programs, and constituent programs units. Lewallen was previously the director of constituent programs from 2009 to 2014, during which time she led a team dedicated to providing services and educational programs to leaders across North America and the world. Lewallen presents at national and international conferences and is a member of the core team for the collaboration between ASCD and the CDC on the integration of learning and health. In her previous role, she helped to provide technical assistance, conferences, online leadership development, and board development facilitation and training for constituent group leaders. She also led the review and redesign of ASCD's outreach and constituent programs, through which she established both leadership development for emerging leaders and young professionals and collaborative working relationships with external groups, including foundations, corporations, and government entities. Lewallen joined ASCD in 1999 as a special projects director leading a project connecting schools with local public health agencies.

Association For Supervision And Curriculum Development announced that Deborah Hall has been promoted to chief operations officer for the association. Hall joined ASCD in 1999 and spent the past 15 years as chief human resources and organizational services officer. In her new role, Hall will oversee ASCD's Administrative Services; Financial Services; Human Resources (HR); Information Technology (IT) Operations and Engineering; Legal; and Meetings and Travel Services units. During her time at ASCD, Hall has provided organizational leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and achievement of ASCD's strategic plan and organizational goals. In her previous role, she was responsible for human resources strategic planning, employment law and compliance, talent management and organizational structure, employee relations, communications, and more.
