DONG Energy A/S Announces Opening of Westermost Rough Offshore Wind Farm in North Sea, England

DONG Energy A/S has announced the opening of Westermost Rough, an offshore wind farm 8km north east of Withernsea off the Holderness coast, in the North Sea, England. Westermost Rough is the first offshore wind farm in the world to make commercial use of giant Siemens 6MW turbines with 75 metre blades. Westermost Rough is capable of generating up to 210 MW of electricity. Over 900 people were involved in the offshore construction of the wind farm and up to 100 staff from DONG Energy and its partners will be based in the purpose-built Operations & Maintenance base in Grimsby's Royal Dock. Capable of meeting the electricity demand of well over 150,000 homes, the wind farm, is a joint venture between DONG Energy (50%) and its partners Marubeni Corporation (25%) and the UK Green Investment Bank plc (25%).
Dong Energy to Establish Operational Hub at Able Marine Energy Park in UK

Dong Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Able UK to launch an operational hub at the Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP) in the Humber Estuary, UK. Under the MoU, Able and Dong Energy will work closely to progress significant development plans. Planned to be built at Killingholme, near Immingham, North East Lincolnshire, the proposed facility will be used to support the construction and installation of offshore wind farms. The 800-acre energy park comprises facilities, including quays designed to meet the needs of the industry, and is expected to create 4,000 jobs.
DONG Energy to Build Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm in the UK

DONG Energy has decided to construct Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm, located in the Greater Wash area, approximately 27 km off the east coast of Britain. Race Bank will have a capacity of up to approx. 580MW and is expected to be fully commissioned in 2018. The wind farm will be constructed and operate under the UK's ROC scheme (1.8 ROC).
