Sparks Health System Announces Executive Changes
May 10 14
Sparks Health System continued its search for a new CEO after the interim candidate for the position was taken out of consideration this week. Tim Schmidt, named interim CEO in mid-March of 2014 by its parent company Community Health System, was relieved of his duty May 7, 2014. Chief Operations Officer Jeremy Drinkwitz is now interim CEO. The departure comes two months after Schmidt's predecessor at Sparks Health System CEO, Charles Stewart, resigned. Stewart was on the job for six months. In May 2013 Gary Blan, a Fort Smith native and former president and CEO of Saint Clare's Health System in New Jersey, stepped down as CEO of Sparks Health System just a little more than two months after being appointed. Blan began the Sparks CEO job on March 19, 2013. Blan succeeded Melody Trimble, a registered nurse who in January 2013 assumed the role of president of then hospital owner Health Management Associate's Southern and Western Group, a position that included oversight of Sparks, Summit and 24 other hospitals in seven states.
