Bovie Medical Corporation Signs GPO Agreement with Amerinet for J-Plasma

Bovie Medical Corporation announced that it has signed its first group purchasing organization (GPO) agreement with Amerinet for the use of J-Plasma by its members. The 3-year agreement with Amerinet, is in effect now through September 2018. Amerinet has more than 85,000 members, including 33,000 clinics, 3,500 acute care hospitals, and 3,300 ambulatory surgery centers. Through this agreement, Amerinet members will have access to J-Plasma, Bovie’s transformational surgical product, which enables surgeons to operate with greater precision and minimal thermal spread.

Amerinet is now wholly owned by Intermountain Healthcare of Utah. The 50% ownership in Amerinet previously controlled by Administrative Resources Inc. (ARI) was sold to Intermountain, which owned the other half of the company, in a deal that closed June 30. ARI's board of directors approved the sale in May 2015. As part of the transaction, Todd Ebert, who served as Amerinet's president and CEO since 2008, has left the company. Brent Johnson, supply chain strategies leader for Intermountain, was named president and CEO of Amerinet, effective July 1, 2015.

Amerinet, Inc. has signed a new agreement for oral care products from Medline Industries, Inc. Through this agreement, Amerinet members will receive negotiated pricing on Medline Oral Care kits, designed based on the IHI Ventilator Bundle recommendations for the reduction of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The kits feature compliance-at-a glance education on the packaging and one-at-a-time dispensing in the correct order to help drive compliance within a facility. This contract is currently effective through March 31, 2018.
