Altec Inc. Key Developments

Altec, Inc. Introduces JEMS 4 Series, an Updated Jobsite Energy Management System for Utility Work Trucks

Altec, Inc. introduced the JEMS 4 Series, an updated Jobsite Energy Management System for utility work trucks that provides significant reductions in carbon footprint, enhances engine life and reduces engine maintenance by automatically eliminating unneeded idle time. The JEMS 4 Series features lithium-ion energy, engine-off cab heating and cooling and an electrified PTO (ePTO) for hydraulic power. The ePTO is an on-demand system which conserves energy by operating only with the activation of the upper or lower controller interlock or by engaging the hydraulic tool circuit. The JEMS 4 Series adds only 300 pounds to a vehicle's weight, but is power packed with capability. It is equipped with Altec's advanced Idle Mitigation System, which eliminates unnecessary idle time whenever the vehicle is parked and automatically transitions from engine power to JEMS power. The JEMS 4 Series supports the EEI Transportation Electrification Initiative, has plug-in charge capability and also provides opportunity charging from the vehicle's electrical system. All Altec JEMS products incorporate integral safety interlocks ensuring the system operates in a dependable manner.

Altec Launches Two New Digger Derricks

Altec announced the release of two new digger derricks, the DT105 and the DH-H Series, which will be available as a DH45H, DH48H, and DH50H. The new digger derricks incorporate innovative technology to offer safety, productivity and operator convenience. The DT105 and DH-H Series will be available for purchase January 2016. The DT105 Digger Derrick is a hydraulically-actuated, continuous rotation, heavy-duty transmission digger derrick designed with steel load-bearing structures. The DT105 is an ideal unit for transmission maintenance and construction, but can also be used in a wide variety of applications. Design Features includes 105 foot sheave height with articulating boom tip; 60,000 pounds maximum capacity; Ability to road up to a 48 inch auger; 1,200 pound capacity steel, two man platform with radio remotes; Fiberglass fly-boom for personnel and material handling. The DH-H Series is the fully hydraulic version of new DH product family. It has the strength-to-weight ratio within Altec's digger derrick product line. It is also the only derrick to have a zone rated capacity system that will allow the operator to lift more weight off of the back than the sides when on a single axle chassis. The units available in the DH-H Series, the DH45H, DH48H, and DH50H, offer sheave height options for all uses. Design Features includes Boom capacity up to 16,050 pounds at a 10 foot load radius (depending on model); Overall unit weight and available pay load on a 33,000 GVW chassis; Zone Rating System.

Altec Announces Launch of the DRM12he Engineless Chipper

Altec announced the launch of the DRM12he engineless chipper. This 12 inch controlled-feed drum style chipper is operated with hydraulic power from the tow vehicle creating a Modular Production System (MPS), thus removing the need for a traditional engine. The absence of the engine eliminates routine repair and maintenance expenses associated with combustion style engines and offers a more efficient uptime. The MPS provides hydraulic and electrical connections from the chipper to the tow vehicle by utilizing a quick connect system that makes hooking and unhooking fast and easy. The DRM12he also provides the following features: push button start/stop; a cutting drum that stops in less than 10 seconds after power is stopped; on board diagnostics for hydraulic system oil level, temperature and filtration; and weight savings of over 1,100 pounds for a normal 12 inch drum chipper. The DRM12he is equipped with the Altec Panic Bar System and other popular features.
