Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Announces Executive Changes

The director of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center's Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center has been named chief scientific officer of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Dr. James K.V. Wilson will lead the agency's academic research program in supporting innovation in cancer research and recruiting world-class cancer researchers to Texas institutions. Willson is currently associate dean of oncology programs in addition to director of Simmons Cancer Center. Willson will begin March 1 at CPRIT. He replaces Dr. Margaret Kripke, who retired after serving as CPRIT's chief scientific officer since 2012.

The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Appoints Dr. Thomas Goodman as First Chief Product Development Officer

The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas has hired Dr. Thomas Goodman as its first chief product development officer, with the responsibility of promoting the use of CPRIT grants in the creation of medical devices, therapeutics and other salable goods. Goodman was previously vice president of business development for live sciences at Arizona Science and Technology Enterprises.
