Vancouver International Airport Officially Opens Newly Expanded Domestic Terminal

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) announced the opening of the expanded Domestic Terminal, the A-B Connector. Featuring new gate capacity, an expedited baggage system, seismic upgrades and a wide range of new dining and shopping options, the A-B Connector will keep YVR connected to destinations across Canada. The new $213 million expansion is the first major infrastructure project completed as part of YVR's 10-year gateway strategy announced in 2012 to keep YVR competitive and an economic generator for B.C. The upgrades and expansion were made to the original areas of YVR's 1968 terminal. The A-B Connector provides improved passenger navigation and flow, increased gate capacity and holdroom space, new security and safety enhancements and seismic upgrades to ensure a more comfortable and efficient experience. In addition, an expedited baggage system connects bags between international and domestic flights more quickly.

Vancouver International Airport Authority and Public Service Alliance of Canada Reach a Tentative Deal

Vancouver International Airport Authority and airport workers' union the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) said they have reached a tentative deal that is fair and equitable for both parties. The PSAC Local 20221 represents employees working at Vancouver International Airport that provide emergency services, finance and administrative services. According to the union, PSAC will need to present the tentative agreement to their membership and employees will need to vote on the adoption of the agreement as presented. The period of union member review and voting will have no impact on airport operations. Vancouver International Airport said it will continue to operate as normal. Details of the settlement will become available after the ratification vote.
