Seymour Whyte Limited announced that its 50/50 joint venture with Fulton Hogan has been awarded the contract to design and construct the Bruce Highway Upgrade-Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway in Queensland. The contract value for the joint venture was $442 million--of which Seymour Whyte's share was $221 million, strengthening its order book to $620 million. Detailed design will now be undertaken before construction commences in mid-2017; completion is scheduled for 2020.

Fulton Hogan Limited is in talks to buy some of the assets of Bruce Buchanan Ltd. According to Fairfax Media reports, Bruce Buchanan laid off 20 staff ahead of a planned shut down of its construction division, and was in talks to sell some assets. A Fulton Hogan spokesman said: "Fulton Hogan and Bruce Buchanan Limited are at an early stage of discussions with respect to the sale of some assets of BBL."

Fulton Hogan announced earnings results for the year ended June 2015. For the year, the company reported that civil engineering and resources business pushed up net after-tax profit 9.7%, but ‘trying’ Australian conditions forced revenue down. Business - operating in Australia and in the Pacific - made net profit after-tax of $151.6 million against $138.2 million a year ago, up on last year. Revenue fell from $3.24 billion to $2.9 billion.
