Bell Media Signs Deal with HBO for Program Delivery in Canada

BCE said it signed a deal with pay TV service HBO, that will see its Bell Media unit deliver HBO programming on linear, on-demand, and over-the-top platforms in English and French in Canada. The deal is the first time that HBO has given exclusive subscription video on demand rights for first-run programming throughout Canada, BCE didn't give financial terms of the deal.

Bell Media cutting 380 jobs in Toronto and Montreal. A majority of the 380 cuts announced are production and editorial positions. It's the latest round of layoffs at the broadcaster, which has been pulling back on its TV staff over the past year and a half. In Montreal, 110 jobs will be cut: 70 in production and editorial, 45 in sales and marketing and five in administration. In Toronto, 270 jobs will be cut: 220 in production and editorial, 45 in sales and marketing and five in administration.
