Magneti Marelli to Expand Lighting Division in Pulaski, Tennessee

Magneti Marelli is expanding its automotive lighting division in Pulaski, Tennessee (United States), creating 450 new jobs. The supplier will add 80,000 square feet to the facility to increase production to supply headlamps to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, Volkswagen, and Honda vehicles. The Tennessee plant operations currently employ more than 950 people, within Magneti Marelli's shock absorbers division, which manufactures suspension modules and components, and automotive lighting division, which produces headlamps for FCA and Mercedes. The facility is the company's first in the United States and the third in North America.

Magneti Marelli Opens Two Plants in China

Magneti Marelli has opened two plants in China, expanding its Chinese footprint. The supplier has inaugurated a lighting systems manufacturing plant in Xiaogan, Hubei, and a large and renovated facility in Guangzhou for the production of electronic systems for the automotive industry. The company has invested about EUR 36 million (USD 38.2 million) on the two facilities. The Xiaogan plant, which spans a 44,000-square-metre area, is the result of a joint venture called Hubei Huazhong Magneti Marelli, which was formed in October 2013 between Magneti Marelli and China South Industries Group Corporation (CSI). The company plans to initially hire more than 160 people in 2015 at the Xiaogan plant, which has an annual production capacity of 500,000 headlamps. The Italian supplier intends to increase the production to 2.5 million headlamps and 2.5 million rearlamps in 2019. The company will initially produce the headlamps for Ford Taurus in the halogen version and the full-LED version with E-light adaptive system. The Xiaogan plant further extends Magneti Marelli's footprint in the area of automotive lighting. Magneti Marelli invested about EUR 40 million (USD 42.3 million) in this plant, with plans to nearly triple the investment in the next five years.

Magneti Marelli and DTR Sign JV Agreement to Acquire CF Gomma

Magneti Marelli has announced that it has signed an agreement with South Korea-based DTR to form a joint venture (JV) to acquire Italy's CF Gomma. The company said that DTR will take a 60% stake in CF Gomma while Magneti Marelli will own the remaining 40%. Magneti Marelli will work with DTR to promote Gomma's business in Europe and South America.
