SCIEX Partners with Paulovich Lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to Advance Cancer Research Reproducibility

SCIEX, announced a collaboration with the laboratory at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to make Targeted Proteomics in cancer research more reproducible and specific. The collaboration provides SCIEX rights to commercialize the immuno-MRM assays that have been developed in the Paulovich Laboratory. This effort, aligned with the National Institute of Health’s strategy to make technology more widely accessible through public/private partnerships, will result in commercially available assays that quantitatively measure phosphorylated and unmodified proteins known to be involved in cancer signaling pathways. By partnering with the Paulovich Laboratory, SCIEX will offer researchers a complete solution for mass spectrometry-based protein quantification of specific key biological pathways. At the HUPO 2015 Annual World Congress this week, SCIEX has introduced an improved targeted proteomics workflow that includes the new QTRAP 6500+ system and microflow LC, to combine high sensitivity and high throughput, and the Beckman Biomek Laboratory Automated Workstation, with optimized workflows for protein digestion. The immuno-MRM kits will be commercialized for this workflow, creating a solution that will include sample preparation reagents, antibodies and beads for target enrichment, internal standards for quantification, and related methods for LC-MS and data analysis. This collaboration will produce off-the-shelf assays for running immuno-MRM experiments, which will improve biological reproducibility and thereby drive actionable research, which can be shared across labs. The immuno-MRM kits will be available in 2016.

SCIEX Announces New Meat Species Authentication Method Designed for Halal Food Verification

SCIEX announced that a new meat species authentication method designed for Halal food verification has been developed using the SCIEX QTRAP® 6500 LC-MS/MS system. Scientists at the University of Münster have successfully developed the first method that can detect multiple species simultaneously while achieving the lowest limits of detection, even in cooked and highly processed meats. The method marks a new dimension in meat speciation testing, delivering excellent sensitivity and reliability of results compared with traditional approaches to meat authentication. Novel methods such as this significantly advance the science of combatting food fraud. The SCIEX QTRAP technology enables quantitative MRM3 workflows, which enhance the selectivity and data quality, and provides comprehensive peptide sequence confirmation and quantitation when analyzing complex food samples.

SCIEX and Mass Consortium Corporation Announce Reseller Agreement of XCMSplus Metabolomics Software

SCIEX announced at the MSACL 2015 US conference in San Diego that it has signed an agreement with Mass Consortium Corporation; a mass spectrometry-focused software company, for the exclusive reseller and marketing rights of XCMSplus software. As the exclusive reseller of XCMSplus software, SCIEX will enable researchers to simplify and accelerate their metabolomics workflows, by processing, visualizing, and analyzing data in one interactive, secure bioinformatics environment. XCMSplus software is an advanced personal cloud version of XCMS Online developed at Scripps, the most cited software in metabolomics. The new XCMSplus offers improved multi-group analysis capabilities, faster on-site data processing, and, local data storage and sharing capabilities unlimited by the XCMSplus software. Metabolomic researchers will be able to accelerate their discovery workflows and shorten their timeframes for translating data into biological information.
