MedAire Releases Suite of New Medical Kits for Business and General Aviation Aircraft in Europe
May 19 14
MedAire has released a suite of new medical kits for business and general aviation aircraft in Europe. The medical kits’ contents and packaging allow crew and passengers to quickly and easily assess and address in-flight medical events. The new medical kits are the result of an evaluation by the MedAire Medical Product Review Board, which meets annually to review medical kit contents to ensure MedAire continues to meet the needs of the customer; that applicable regulatory revisions are met; and to consider new medications and equipment on the market. The new MedAire Advanced Aviation Medical Kit contains contents to stabilize patients in critical situations and begin treatment of the most common in-flight ailments, such as antibiotics to provide initial therapy for common bacterial infections. Accurate, easy-to-use assessment and monitoring equipment was also deemed a priority, so a digital blood pressure monitor is included in the medical kit. The updated Aircraft First Aid Kits include medications to address motion sickness, oral rehydration salts to address dehydration and a digital wrist blood pressure monitor to make the obtention of blood pressure and heart rate readings easier in flight. The Aircraft First Aid Kit Rx includes a bronchodilator and the addition of the anti-nausea drug ondansetron, as gastrointestinal concerns and nausea are the most common in-flight complaints during general aviation flights. The company's medical kits are fully integrated with its travel risk management solution, which includes MedAire’s MedLink, the world-renowned 24/7 global emergency response centre for in-flight medical assistance. MedAire’s doctors have visibility into the medical equipment on board a client’s aircraft, saving valuable time when administering assistance to a patient. The medical kit contents and their applications are also reviewed in MedAire’s Management of In-Flight Illness and Injury course taken by flight crew, owners, and operators.
