Various Bidders Show Interest In Alpari

IronFX Global Limited has confirmed it is interested in making a bid for Alpari (UK) Limited which went into administration after making huge losses on swings in the Swiss franc. The group said on Thursday it was in contact with KPMG, the administrator, about making an offer. Toronto-based OANDA (Canada) Corporation ULC and Britain's Monecor (London) Limited joined the race to buy fellow online foreign exchange broker Alpari UK.

Interest In Alpari From Potential Buyers

KPMG LLP, administrators for Alpari (UK) Ltd said that potential buyers are inquiring about Alpari. FXCM Inc. (NYSE:FXCM) was a potential buyer, reported Forex Magnates, citing unnamed sources but an FXCM spokeswoman denied the possibility of FXCM buying Alpari. IG Group Holdings plc (LSE:IGG) is also reported to be a potential buyer by Wall Street Journal. IG is interested in buying suitable assets of Alpari at the right price but is not considering buying the whole firm, a person familiar with the matter said. Other potential buyers of Alpari include ETX Capital, Spread Co Limited and Pepperstone Financial Pty Ltd. as per media reports. Owen Kerr, Co-Founder of Pepperstone told Wall Street Journal that Alpari “is something we are looking very strongly at". Richard Heis, Samantha Bewick and Mark Firmin of KPMG were appointed special administrators to Alpari (UK) Limited.
