University of Massachusetts – Amherst Appoints Wilmore Webley as New Director of Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Advising

University of Massachusetts – Amherst announced that Wilmore Webley, Associate Professor in Microbiology, has been named the new Director of Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Advising, effective January 1, 2015. Webley will oversee advising for 1,500 undergraduates across campus exploring careers in the medical, dental and health fields.

University of Massachusetts Press Names Mary Dougherty as Director, Effective July 21, 2014

Mary V. Dougherty, publisher for history at Bedford/St. Martin's, has been named the director of the University of Massachusetts Press. She will assume her new duties on July 21. As publisher for history since 2006, Dougherty devised and implemented a long-range plan for the growth of the Bedford history list, which increased revenue from $8 million to $18.5 million.

University of Massachusetts - Amherst Announces Executive Changes

University of Massachusetts - Amherst announced that Gabriela C. Weaver of Purdue University has been named associate provost for faculty development and director of the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development. Weaver is currently the Jerry and Rosie Semler Director of the Discovery Learning Research (DLRC) and professor of chemistry and science education at Purdue University. Weaver's accomplishments at Purdue include leading the design of professional development workshops and assessment activities for Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT), an initiative to provide support, faculty development and infrastructure for changing teaching at Purdue to be more student-centered and research-based. She also envisioned and organized the first Transforming Education conference, an international meeting on the subject of transforming STEM undergraduate education by applying research-based findings to actual classroom practice. Prior to Weaver's appointment to lead the DLRC, she served as the associate head of the department of chemistry at Purdue. She was also a member of the faculty at the University of Colorado, Denver, and received her doctorate in chemical physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Weaver will begin her new duties on September 1, 2014. She succeeds Sorcinelli, the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development, who will retire on August 31, 2014 after 25 years of service.
