FSBM Ctech Sdn Bhd Files Legal Action Against University of Malaya and Technitium Sdn. Bhd

FSBM Holdings Berhad announced that its subsidiary FSBM Ctech Sdn Bhd had on 5 November 2015 filed on 21 October 2015 in the Kuala Lumpur High Court, against University of Malaya (University Malaya Medical Centre) as first defendant and Technitium Sdn Bhd as second defendant for the recovery of MYR 10,370,791.94. TSB was awarded a contract by UMMC on 8 April 2006 and TSB subsequently sub contracted to CTECH a portion of the project in 28 April 2006. TSB has since been wound up on 18 June 2012 and liquidators have been appointed. CTECH has obtained sanction from the liquidators to represent TSB to recover the sums due and payable by UMMC to TSB. CTECH is claiming the sum of RM10,370,791.94 to be paid to TSB at an interest of 6% per annum on the said sum of RM10,370,791.94 from the date of judgment until full settlement including cost, and any other relief which the Court deems fit. The 1st case management has been fixed for 23 November 2015. The Company will take all the necessary and possible steps to recover the debts from UMMC. UMMC had filed a Notice of Appearance to the High Court on 16 November 2015. The Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim are not expected to have any impact on the operations on the Group but should the suit be in the Company’s favour, there will be positive financial impact on the Group. The company is not expected to incur any further losses arising from the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim.
AvantiCell Science and University of Malaya Signs Joint Agreement to Setup a Cell Bank

AvantiCell Science and the University of Malaya have signed a joint agreement to setup a cell bank that can be used for cell-based analysis by pharmaceutical firms to evaluate potential new medicines. The partnership, which will operate under the university's Industrial Prototype Development scheme, plans to collect cells from 'surgical excess', tissue taken - with ethical permission - from surgical procedures, such as malignant tumour removal.
