Sep 1 15
McWhinney and Sage Hospitality, along with Mortenson Development and Mortenson Construction partnered to develop and build the 13-story AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Portland, on the corner of SW Third Avenue and Taylor Street, planned to open December 2016. AC Hotels by Marriott is designed to attract travelers who want a sophisticated experience with style, inspired social spaces and technology. AC Hotel Portland will blend contemporary styles with cosmopolitan sophistication with a dash of eccentricity in true Portland form. Design will be crisp and clean, and will feature a carefully curated selection of artwork and unique sculptures from local Portland artists. The hotel will feature 204 signature AC guestrooms that will boast sleek Europeaninspired design with sophisticated furnishings and thoughtful lighting, along with complimentary Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV that allows guests to connect to their own media and access online content. The lobby will be flexible in seating for business or pleasure and will feature free Wi-Fi with creative decor including a library and local artifacts gathered to surprise guests and locals. Dining options will include AC Hotels by Marriott's signature European-inspired breakfast, a lounge offering small plates and cocktails, and a unique market featuring locally curated items and original Portland-made coffee. The hotel will include one level of below-grade meeting space, featuring 1,220 square feet of flexible, glass-enclosed AC Media Salons for small group collaborations with plenty of connectivity, which can be reserved online. A 24-hour fitness center will be available for guests, and the hotel will offer off-site valet parking. Mortenson will lead the development and construction of the project. It has teamed with SERA Architects for its expertise in hospitality design, including architecture, interior design, sustainability and urban design in the Portland market. Together they will produce something special for locals and visitors alike. Upon completion the building will apply for LEED Silver certification. Sage Hospitality manages the Nines a Luxury Collection hotel, as well as the Courtyard Portland City Center, both hotels are within a few blocks from the new development. Once complete, Sage and McWhinney will own and operate the hotel. They have a proven track record of creating special places that connect to local communities through design and placemaking.
Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. Selects Sage Hospitality
Jan 23 15
Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. announced that as part of the company's efforts to transform the Denver Marriott Tech Center Hotel, the company has selected Sage Hospitality to manage the hotel pursuant to a Marriott franchise agreement. Beginning in late 2015, the hotel will undergo an extensive multi-million dollar renovation to completely modernize every aspect of the hotel. This renovation includes all 628-rooms of the two towers and will reconfigure and enhance the entrance, lobby, restaurants, and 45,000 square feet of event space. In one of the two towers the room count will shrink as certain standard king rooms will be converted to executive king suites with upgraded finishes and amenities such as microwaves and refrigerators to reach out to the extended stay customer. In addition, the fitness center and the concierge lounge will be relocated to the tower with the executive suites to create a complete experience for the business traveler.
