The Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Statoil Sign Agreement on Research Funding for Future Energy Solutions

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Statoil signed an agreement on research funding for future energy solutions. With a total budget of NOK 50 million over four years, Statoil and NTNU wish to build up a research group to develop sustainable energy solutions. The group will also assess the market prospects and effects of various kinds of climate policy. The first step is to recruit an internationally renowned researcher with relevant expertise to guide the company's work and build up the research group, which will be based at NTNU in Trondheim. Statoils financial contribution will be NOK 5 million annually for four years. Statoil also wishes to provide project funding linked to the initiative.

Rolls-Royce, NTNU and Marintek Renew Agreement for New Maritime Solutions

Rolls-Royce Holdings plc, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, or NTNU, and Marintek Research Centre have renewed their agreement to continue to develop new solutions for the maritime sector, focusing on improving ship performance in rough seas. The second Nordic UTC, in collaboration with the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, is also focused on marine technology. Rolls-Royce has established 31 UTC partnerships around the world.
