Technical University of Munich, German Institute of Science and Technology – TUM Asia, Singapore Polytechnic and ST Kinetics signed a memorandum of understanding with nine other local and international companies to promote composite technology through the following avenues: Technology development and demonstration; Education and training; Services for industrial projects; and Entrepreneurship. Therefore, the collaboration aims to build a sustainable composite technology resource model that will support local small and medium enterprises as well as start-up companies with the necessary resources to develop and build composite materials in accordance to their individual industry needs. The four founding members, TUM, TUM Asia, Singapore Polytechnic and ST Kinetics will drive this initiative along with other participating companies through efforts in the four key areas of technology transfer, workforce development, technology demonstration and promotion, and services. Singapore Polytechnic and ST Kinetics will play an important role in this project. A composite technology laboratory has been setup within the premises of Singapore Polytechnic to leverage on the training and development skills of its staff to equip the workforce with the know-hows in the latest composite technology.
Singapore Polytechnic Signs Memorandum of Understanding with University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta and University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to Embark on New Educational Framework

Singapore Polytechnic signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta and University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to embark on a new educational framework that will enhance engineering education in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Known as Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO), this innovative framework will be adopted by University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta and University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to transform the teaching and learning approach in the field of Science and Technology. The two-year programme will be supported by Temasek Foundation, Singapore with a grant of SGD 453,780, while University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta and University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta will jointly fund the remaining cost of SGD 146,250. A series of training workshops will be held to train 70 participants from University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta and University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in the overall CDIO Teaching and Learning framework. A select group of 35 will then be trained as specialists to do the following: develop an integrated curriculum; conceive and design innovative products and systems; design active experiential learning experiences; and evaluate programmes for continuous improvement.
